My cooperating teacher, Mrs. Fusco, maintains a really positive environment. She keeps such a positive environment because of the various routines and procedures she uses in her classroom management. During the beginning of every class, including homeroom, the students have a set routine that they come in and attend to. In homeroom, students come in and sign up for what they are having for lunch, and turn in important documents as they wait for the morning announcements. Also, if they have brought a lunch they put their lunch box in a basket that gets collected by other students and brought to the lunch room to keep cold. When the Enrichment English, and English 8 classes come in they sit down and start their Do Now that Mrs. Fusco has posted on the board. Mrs. Fusco keeps her students seated in rows because she feels as if it keeps her students on task during class periods. Mrs. Fusco is able to easily walk up and down the aisles as her students are taking tests or working on in-class assignments and taps their desks in order to regain their attention, reinforcing the idea of staying on task. Students know what to do and where to sit, because she has a seating chart that she set up in the beginning of the school year. If she feels as if there is lack of motivation, and hard work, she has a discussion with her students to remind them of her expectations for the eighth grade. …show more content…

My child observation and classroom observation took place at the Mt. San Jacinto Child Development and Education center in the preschool/pre-k (ages 36 months to 54 months) program room. This classroom has 2 teachers and 15 children in attendance during my observation. My study child is a male student age 4 who for this assignment I will refer to as C. The classroom environment as a whole can handle the children within the program, however I will provide a better picture of the entire room to have a clear picture for reflection. As a child walking into this classroom you feel a sense of warmth of both the environment and also from the teacher as she greats all her children individually.…

My observation was done on a Pre-K class room at a local Kinder Care Learning Center around 4:30pm in the afternoon. During this time the teachers are preparing the children to leave for the day. The class room was set up to show that the kids were preparing for regular school and not just spending their entire day napping and singing songs. The room had about 6 windows that allowed a lot of natural light, there were 2 square tables with at least 6 little chairs at each table, and a small round blue table. The room was filled with book shelves, cabinets with pictures of the children on the cabinet doors; each child had a cubby with their name and a picture of them displayed on the front of it.…

On today, March 23, 2017, I had the opportunity to observe Makai, a five-year old atypical student in Ms. Parker’s atypical pre-k classroom at C.C. Spaulding Elementary School. From entering the classroom, I could instantly tell that they try to keep the environment as calm as possible. When I arrived, the class was finishing up their circle time activities on the carpet. The class had about eight students present. There were two teacher assistants in the classroom to provide ample support to the students.…

I recently observed Joanne Bateman teach her students about the Earth’s and moon’s rotation, the complexity of space travel, and the engineering design process in a lesson about rockets. Students had to build model rockets that could land on a spinning model moon. Students were placed in cooperative groups of two to four students for this engineering activity. For this clinical supervision process, I used the Framework for Teaching form F for pre- and post-conferences and form G for the formal observation summary.…

I can empathize with teachers who say that the observation and evaluation process does not seem reciprocal in nature. Most of my follow-up evaluations have either been waived or conducted in five minutes or less in which the principal hits upon the highlights of my observation. Very few teaching lessons have been learned through these interactions. In her article though, Shelly Arneson includes sound practices that can be implemented to alleviate many of the concerns of the evaluation process. Her basic premise is to shift the dialogue from inspection-based conversation to a reflection-based conversation.…

Learning is one of the most imperative aspects of a child’s life, they begin learning far before they even comprehend what it means to learn. As they grow, their parents teach them good and bad and right from wrong, the most basic forms of education. Soon enough they are exposed to daycare and other social settings, and are learning to separate from their parents and cooperate with other children. Finally they start school and are ready to complicate their education with numbers and words that will slowly start to make sense. To help analyze this process, I interviewed an eleven year old girl named Sasha Brown.…

I have had the pleasure of working with many different teachers this semester, who will be with me in every situation I come across.
