Classroom Observation Paper

For this assignment, I decided to visit Wayne Township Preschool which was one of my placements for my special education class last year. It visited the classroom that I was in last year and was able to see some of my old students. The WTP is located on High School Rd. and Washington St and is connected to Ben Davis University High School. It is a pretty big school with 294 students enrolled in pre-school and 102 enrolled in child care ranging for 3-5 years of age. They have 19 developmental classrooms and 13 community classrooms.
When you walk into the lobby of the school, you can tell that the facility is very child centered. There are almost no chairs, but there are toys and books for the children to play with. The hallway walls are very

My favorite part is that they have community classrooms which are inclusive classrooms with children that are typically developing and children with special needs. Once I graduate, I want to work in an inclusive classroom, and I love how almost all of the classrooms are inclusive. I am biased since I have worked with them before and I know the quality of instruction they have, but I would love to send my children here. The staff is very friendly, and the school is not only focused on their academics, but also their development. I also like that all of the students from ages 3-5 are beginning academic instruction, but I also like that the children are social skills. I think that it is important to expose children at a young age to accept everyone despite their difference. The only downside to Wayne Township pre-school is that it is very expensive to enroll a child there. I am not sure the exact amount, but I do know that there are many low-income families that cannot afford to send their child to a good pre-school. I have been informed that despite the price, Wayne offers many scholarships to low-income families, and the majority of their students are there on

Doing clinical observations are very important because it gives a change to see student and teacher interactions first hand and get to see how well a student is responding. During my observations at Biddeford Intermediate School, I got the change to shadow an Ed. Teach in a life skills room. This was a great opportunity for me because it was a chance to see another kind of intervention done in the special education department. I have done many observations with an occupational therapist, and they have always been in lighting and very educational, but to visit a life skills room gave me more perspective on the special education department as a whole.…

I believe that the school's location within the Cobb County area is close to a suburban or rural area because there is development but is not a major city such as Kennesaw. The previous data collected and my experience from visiting today reflects a sense of need for education in the area. The classroom had approximately 25-30 students in this small area. Although, the classroom seemed cramped the teacher worked with the materials and “tools” she was given. Many challenges that teachers in this school could possibly face is the problem of low-income families [referring to the high percentage of free and reduced lunches].…

I believe Parish is an amazing place from both children and educators. The main disadvantage that speech language pathologist deal with is paperwork, but they do not have to deal with as much paperwork as a public elementary school teacher. The school provides support and information to parents, helping to improve the relationship between the speech pathologist and the parents. Inclusion in general education classrooms is continuously discussed and it is important. Although it is also imperative that children are around and know about children with similar speech, language, and/or learning deficits, and Parish provides this…

To begin my observations, I parked my car in the parking lot and peered out my windows. In front of me was a black Chevy SUV.…

I really enjoyed the time I spent in Mrs. Flinn’s fourth grade classroom over Spring Break. I was able to observe for a total of four hours between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. During my time with the fourth graders, I took a closer look at the solid behavior classroom supports being used. Along with these supports, I was extremely impressed by the way Mrs. Flinn handled classroom management. Even though I observed during a very exciting week, she had great control over her students.…
