Today my professor is coming to observe me teaching. I told Anne that I was not sure if I could teach in front of her. She calmed me by reminding me about the first class that I taught. What I learned from this experience is to reflect on past successful experiences and let it propel me to the next level.
We have had a lot of students with the flu. We had a few students that came in with throat pain, headache, and stomach ache. Although they did not have any fever, they felt so bad they asked to go home. Therefore, speaking to parents, sending information to their teacher that they were sent home and to the front office that the student should be marked N in the PowerSchool.
My professor arrived at 9 am, she was sent down to the nurse’s office by the main office. When she arrived, I introduce her to Anne, who give her a tour of the nurse’s office. After her tour, we headed down to the class room for 9:20 am. I was able to get in the classroom briefly before the class began to write on the board and order all my paperwork. I was nervous and was not sure if my class would flow well, but it went well. The health education teacher, in the middle of the class asked me to

I have not run a drill before, so I am not sure how it will turn out. As we assisted students that visited the nurse’s office to drop off their sports physical forms, Anne also took the time to explain about the sports form. The form has to be completely filled out, unless it is returned to the family with what they need to complete. The reason the form has to be fully completed by the family is because the school doctor will not accept the form. Therefore, to avoid the doctor dealing with so many forms that are not completed the nurse takes the time to check each form. This shows me that this is a good practice and it puts the responsibility on the family if they want their child to compete in a

The setting of my 2nd focus child was a Little Bucs in the preschool room (Inventors) in the classroom, but we did visit the ETSU library during my first observation. They are 48 months-60 months. I observed a 48 month old, male. I will refer to the student I observed as "P." I observed from 10:00-11:30 both sessions. The classroom was reasonably big, but the floor was opened with toys and an upstairs area where the students can go and hang up there.…

First, she remained calm the whole time during this activity, even when the child was distracted and not on task. Watching this activity I feel that this could be very frustrating since the child is not completing the goal as well as it was probably planned. Plus, she tried to keep the activity fast paced to keep the boy into the activity. Also during the video we saw the clinician was recording data and checking the time as the activity went along. I think this is a positive point because it displays that she is capable of quickly switching from task to task, by giving her attention to the boy then quickly jotting notes down.…

It may appear like just child’s play, but toddlers are hard at work learning important physical skills as they gain muscle control, balance, and coordination. This is what I learned the day I observed my 36-month-old niece when on a play date with two other toddlers. Through observation I was able to gain a good understanding of why play is so critical at this stage in their growth and development, and I believe that there is no better way to learn about these themes than by observing play in action. This paper will discuss my observations and how it compares or contrasts to what is expected in the development of toddlers. Comparisons Play amplifies toddlers’ physical and psychosocial development.…

What is your favorite sport? Many people believe students in middle school should be required to get a physical. In the Pre-K classroom that I observed it consisted of several different centers for the children to participate in, such as: block area, dramatic play, art, library, sand/water table, music/movement, sensory area, finger painting, play dough, and the students got the opportunity to make their own snacks. Not only did the students get to participate in centers, they had the opportunity each day to go outside and play on the playground as well as having an interactive lecture every morning at circle time and when the students sat down at their tables to do their daily worksheet. I believe that the Pre-K class I observed was a mix between traditional teaching as well as constructivism, creating a balance between the two. In the morning during circle time, the teacher would “lecture” the students with the letter of the day, go over the date, months, days of the week, shapes, and the numbers up to the date it currently was.…

Today, I had a class with two different instructors but I think same scenario in some ways. I learned different things from each instructor: Mr. Rogers and Mr. Charles Rewald. I had another point of view when I finished my class on how important was to be prepared when an emergency is in front of you, and responded within seconds because those seconds can immediately change the patient’s lives forever. By having this class today with these instructors, I learned more about possible emergencies that we may not notice at the first minute, how a dental treatment can impact a patient, and how important is to have people highly prepared for this scenes.…

I really enjoyed the time I spent in Mrs. Flinn’s fourth grade classroom over Spring Break. I was able to observe for a total of four hours between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. During my time with the fourth graders, I took a closer look at the solid behavior classroom supports being used. Along with these supports, I was extremely impressed by the way Mrs. Flinn handled classroom management. Even though I observed during a very exciting week, she had great control over her students.…
