Classroom Observation Of Brigida And Italy

Decent Essays
Brigida and Toni were tardy while Jacqueline and Vicenzo were absent. I documented the class attendance in the drive.

Salvatore and Toni took there tests in separate rooms. Salvatore was in Ms. Million's class while Toni was in Mr. B's. Upon completion of their test, they were also informed to complete the writing exercise and bring to class tomorrow.

The class was informed this writing assignment is for a grade. Those who completed within the alloted hour were told to take it home to revise and correct, while those who were not complete were told this was homework.

It was the year of 2014 going into 2015 and I was an eighth grader. This was my second year attending Bennett Academy charter school. My English language arts teacher, Ms. Walton, had told to my classmates and me that in mid-November we will begin to start our huge assignment. That assignment was to be completed before the graduation date of May 21st, 2015. Ms. Walton told us that we need to have at least fifty pages and no less.…

Observation Report: Writing Assignment The writing assignment that I observed was a literary analysis that describes the theme of “The Cask of Amontillado” through his display of the main character’s motives. The students were instructed to provide specific examples from the text, as well as clear reasoning that explains and connects their evidence to their response. The day that I was there to observe the class the mentor teacher was finishing the unit by having the students write a five paragraph essay using a worksheet packet that they had been working on for the past several days.…

The work load in our curriculum today has caused student’s to feel pressured with work which in turn has caused to look at assignments given to them as another task to accomplish as opposed to another lesson to be learned. “I wanted them to go through an intellectual exercise. And they just wanted the answers,” Abeshouse says later. “By our standards, it’s cheating. By theirs, it’s efficiency.”…

Teachers are important to today’s children. Teachers may teach different subjects or grade levels. Some teachers teach in public schools, while others teach in non-traditional settings like online schools or even home schools. At Southview, our teachers care about our students and want them to do their best. The writing expected from college courses is one that most are unfamiliar with. Although students learn basic English skills throughout grade school and up to high school, most of the advanced steps are forgotten by the time the student is to enter college. Paired with this, are the nontraditional students, who haven’t studied advanced academic language for long periods of time. Professors are expecting students of all kinds of study to have a high academic vocabulary and high writing skill. Often times a gap in remedial writing courses within the first semester or so.…

2nd ½ Day Observation, Mrs. Finnell’s 4th-grade Classroom, Jefferson Intermediate School in Rocky Ford, Colorado on 1/22/2016 On Friday, January 22, 2016, I had the pleasure of observing Mrs. Finnell’s 4th-grade classroom at the Jefferson Intermediate School in Rocky Ford, Colorado. When I first arrived at the school, the 4th-grade class was at lunch. With the principle’s permission, I wondered the halls and observe some of the 5th-grade classrooms that were still in session. The first thing I noticed was that the same posters I had seen at the primary school were posted on the walls. These being the school rules and the noise level posters. I was intrigued about this and asked Mrs. Finnell, who explained to me that this is a district plan that they have incorporated.…

DCP El Camino Middle school is a great school that believes every student has the potential to succeed. The administration and teachers do their best to ensure that the students get the best education possible. Since the first day I visited DCP, I saw plenty of potential in the students and a strong sense of community, which is something I have not seen in other schools. As a future professor, I want to work in schools where there is a sense of strong community. DCP has also reinforced the idea of working with my gente, the Latino community.…

Remember the nights when you came home and had worksheet after worksheet to complete for the next day? Sheets full of pointless questions sitting before you while you pondered why in the world your teacher assigned this waste of time. Over the past half century, researchers and academic professors have tried to discover the lingering question of homework’s effectiveness with students’ academic achievements. Countless studies have been conducted to reach consensus verdict on homework’s role in academics. In the recent years, research has increased while more people become uncertain of the effectiveness of homework.…

I didn’t know what I was in for after that day. A writer’s key experiences is what makes them different from other writers and is crucial to their growth as a writer. The writing I composed in Mrs. Heningburg’s class was central to my development as a writer because it made me more confident in my writing and made me more aware of others reading my work as a writer. After hearing my last writing assignment's result in the class, I started expecting a high scoring on my writing works. The compliment about my essay from my sixth-grade teacher changed me, so let's start from the beginning.…

Unfortunately for personal reasons, I was not able to complete this assignment by the due date. In order to not fail other courses (whose presentations were not due on that day) I had to sacrifice the presentation of this essay. I recognized that a ‘Domino effect’ would happen with the other assignments if I devoted the necessary time to that assignment. If I could change something, it would be to think twice before taking three classes for one summer session, so I can give my whole attention to only one or two courses.…

Over the first several weeks of school I have had the rewarding experience of being involved with the fast-track English 111 class provided by my high school and local community college. I have gained experience in managing deadlines, juggling prompts, meeting various criteria, and learning what it truly is that makes writing both correct and brilliant. Coming into this class, I truly lacked a general understanding of proper writing. I wasn’t able to write in MLA format, let alone understand how to execute a process-analysis method, or correct sentence structure. In these past few weeks alone I feel that I have developed as a writer and overall student, know having at least a grasp, if not broader knowledge, on how to produce quality, college-equivalent writing that has exceeded me past an amateur level.…

This chapter talks about students and homework. A student has a busy life in school and for a student to grow, they must get a sufficient amount of sleep every night. A teacher cannot expect a student to do over an hour of homework every night. Rafe believes that “students should be told that homework is giving them an opportunity to be responsible and independent” on page 103. This chapter teaches me that homework is a good thing, but not to assign too much.…

Finally, students are not perfect and may actually forget to do their homework. If teachers assign too much homework, how are students supposed to keep up with all of it (“Why Your Students Don’t Do Their Homework”, pg. 1)? “I couldn’t even count how many kids just take the easy way out and disengage from the homework given at my school. They refuse to do homework and it’s lowering their grades. But I can’t blame them because I ask myself on a daily basis why I don’t just quit already and join the rest of the crown.…

Students face various social and emotional challenges as they develop and interact with the world around them. Their ability to control their emotions and reactions is dependent on their level of development, surrounding environment, and the skills they have been taught, modeled, and practiced that deal with social and emotional factors (Ed Psych, p 70). During my field experience in my 3rd grade classroom at S.H. Elementary, I have observed Mrs. Branson establish relationships and provide students with the necessary skills needed to develop their emotional competencies. Mrs. Branson teaches 3rd grade in a charter school located in the south suburbs of Minneapolis. Her class consist of 23 diverse student learners from various racial, ethical,…
