For this standard I created a classroom newsletter that would go out to parents at the beginning of the school year. To create this newsletter, I used the website mailchimp.com. On this website, I picked a newsletter template, and then customized photos, fonts, and text to create my newsletter. This newsletter can easily be emailed out to all parents, using a stored email list on Mailchimp. This is a great tool to use in my classroom to email parents newsletters about current classroom events, new units we will be covering and other important information. By creating this newsletter, I am showing my ability to communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats. …show more content…
Evernote is an application used to create online notebooks. For this standard I created three different notebooks titled - Discovering America, Ecosystems, and Holiday activities. I then filled each notebook with several notes that included class activities, helpful links, and photos. This is a great tool to use to keep online information organized. I will be using this in my classroom to keep my lesson plans organized. By creating these Evernote notebooks, I have shown that I can model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and …show more content…
This was created by gathering information from the Idaho Content Standards, which is the list all standards that required to be taught for each subject in each grade level. I created this brochure on Microsoft Word, with a trifold brochure template. I added custom text, titles and photos to the page to deliver my information. This is a tool I will be using in my classroom to create brochures for parents about what we will be covering in class and how it meets the required state standards. By creating this artifact, I have shown that I am able to communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and

Their argument was that students needed to take notes via paper and pen rather than with their laptops or other electronics. They used research from Pam A. Mueller and Daniel Oppenheimer. In which they stated “‘This is suggestive evidence that longhand notes may have superior external storage as well as superior encoding functions’”(NPR 2). The content material that stood out to me most this week of that of the Ted Talk of the experiences of Japanese Americans during the war and also the experiences of Native Americans. I think this is extremely beneficial to my learning process as I frequently consider the perspectives of the African American and Latino population, but rarely are the experiences of Asian Americans and Native Americans at the forefront of my mind. In addition, the Classroom Divided was also impactful as I have also seen videos with Jane in the past and her work is greatly depicts the oppression and discrimination experiences by minority groups. The usage of the blue eyed vs brown eyed people experiment is extremely powerful and a great representation of what…

Since the discovery of the Internet it has become increasingly easy to search for information on topics students are unaware of. Kristen Purcell, a writer for Pew Research Center, wrote an article “How Teens do Research in the Digital World,” claiming “Students access a greater depth and breadth of information on topics that interest them; and many become more self-reliant researchers (Purcell).” Computers have been deemed as useful devices for numerous college students. This cyber library that has been created not only allows students to finish their assignments in a timely fashion, it also shows that they are more engaged when doing their research because of all of the web sources literally “handed” to them. Purcell notes that “Fully 86% of college students use the Internet to look up information for their research...and the students say the Internet is essential to their academic lives (Purcell).”…
