I started learning flute when I was in Grade 3. My biggest motivation for learning the flute was probably the fact that I wanted to be in a band. I remember when my brother used to be in the school band and I would go to his performances. After watching the first performance, I was already captured by the music. I really wanted to make music with other people and do something that involves teamwork. When I got to grade 6, I immediately signed up for Spanish ALP, which is a course that you take after school twice a week. Although Spanish has some similarities with English, learning it was still quite challenging at first, considering it was a completely new language to me. There were a couple of times I considered dropping Spanish because it became too challenging, especially when I had to miss classes for about 3 months due to my horseback riding accident. In the club, I got to read well-written books and carefully discuss them with other like-minded people. I always found learning about literary characters very interesting, so I found the club is a good fit for me. A book I truly enjoyed discussing in the club was Bridge To Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. The book is about a powerful friendship that is forged between two fifth-graders named Jesse and Leslie. Jesse simply wants to fit in while Leslie taught Jesse to stand up for himself and realize that the world has no limits. Leslie instilled a spirit in him that could never be erased, even when tragedies occur. In the club, I particular enjoy the active discussion of the theme of the book, and it is interesting to see how people interpret the book differently. For this book, I perceive it as learning to overcome loss, while other see it as taking responsibility for
