Theorist # 1 Name of Theorist(s): B. F. Skinner
Summary of Theory (include citations/sources used in summary) B.F. Skinner’s theory was that anything is susceptible to have their behavior changed by certain conditioning. This means that everyone will change their own behavior based on what the response is around them. If someone responds to their actions positively, then the subject, or student in this case, is likely to do the specific action again. This theory is about how the student is supposed to learn how to conduct themselves in a socially acceptable manner. Teachers are supposed to help guide students to these certain behaviors, by telling and guiding them away from the non-socially accepted behaviors. Teachers are meant to guide student through a process of restitution, resolution, and reconciliation. Another major point of this theory is for teachers to treat students with the respect and attitude that they want their students to treat …show more content…
Give 3 SPECIFIC WAYS/OR ACTIONS you will take as a teacher to implement this theory. 1. One way that I will use this theory in my future classroom, is that I want to make sure that there is a mutual respect between my students and I. I feel as though this respect goes a long way when helping classrooms have a smoother year than if they did not respect one another. With this, the students are more inclined to behave better for not wanting to disappoint someone that they respect and look up to.
2. Another way that I will use this theory is to make sure that the students learn to think about why what they did was wrong. I might for example, bring in the life skills that I had to do in middle school to help students get a better understanding of why what they did was wrong and they can figure out for themselves how to fix it.
3. A third way that I will use this theory is to offer any support to my students that I can. While I will offer my support to my students, I will not spoon feed them the correct answers to their wrong behavior. This will give my students to be able to think more independently and that they know if they have any trouble coming up with a solution that we can work it out
