The book also states that sometimes a teacher needs to act more and talk less. Many teachers nag their students to either do things or to stop doing things. Instead of talking all the time, a teacher should act. If a class is too noisy then instead of yelling at the class all the time to be quiet, the teacher could dim the lights and wait for the students to quiet down. Actions speak louder than words. Lastly, every teacher should treat every student the same, even if only a small handful of students are the ones causing the problem. The last part of the classroom management techniques that are discussed is putting the student in a positive time out. Positive time outs are used when a student needs to be encouraged or empowered to do something that they do not necessarily want to do. These time outs can help the student calm down and are a good time for the student to cool-down from a bad
