A. The classroom demographic factor that greatly affects the classroom is the percentage of Individualized Education Programs in the school. Southside elementary has 15% of students with an Individualized Education Programs. In my classroom, there are eight students with a Student Assistance Team plan in place. This is almost 35% of my students. While these are not Individualized Education Programs, they are the first steps to receiving a program. Because of this, I am proactive with my instruction. Some strategy I use to work with these students are through modifications. While a few students need modifications in every subject, there are a couple who only need help in one area. Therefore, I use modifications to meet the students’ needs. This

It is also important to stimulate the students with these programs by relating to real life situations and their interests. School becomes more like a prison when students are forced to shift from class to class, not learning about things that interest them. It is key to implement a flexible schedule and hit the basics of the curriculum, but making time for student fun and suggestions. Though topics can be tedious, it can help a lot if you give the student a choice in assessment. For example, rather than writing a boring essay on a book, the student could act out a scene, do a poster, a diorama, write a song, etc.…

The setting of my 2nd focus child was a Little Bucs in the preschool room (Inventors) in the classroom, but we did visit the ETSU library during my first observation. They are 48 months-60 months. I observed a 48 month old, male. I will refer to the student I observed as "P." I observed from 10:00-11:30 both sessions. The classroom was reasonably big, but the floor was opened with toys and an upstairs area where the students can go and hang up there.…

Students of color make up more than 88% of the student population at the school in which I currently work. Within the student population, 22% are English Language Learners, 16% have an IEP, and 70% qualify for free or reduced lunch. Since I work at an alternative program, 100% of the students have continual learning plans. Because this group of students is very diverse, I have found that I have had to make some adjustments. I become familiar with the students and staff of the school where I work.…

Topic I decided to research student motivation for my topic for this assignment. I am a program director and teacher of polysomnography at a private career college in Michigan. It seems over the last year that my students’ motivation to learn has declined. The excitement and enthusiasm did not exist with my 2015 cohort as compared to my 2014 cohort. Looking at this problem objectively, I compared the grades, assignment completions, discussion board, blog, and journal participation rates of both cohorts.…

Classroom Life in the U.S. Universities “The more I spoke with international students, the more I noticed familiar refrains that both educated me and reminded me about my own U.S. and academic culture” (Nathan 67). An anthropologist, Rebekah Nathan went undercover – she goes back to school as a freshman at her own university to see the campus through student eyes. This decision was made as she wanted to analyze and examine the campus life fairly instead of having the often professor-student research studies. By interviewing international students, she could see Americans as an outsider where she learnt relationships and friendships, classroom life, and worldview of American students in the U.S. college life are depicted different to non-Americans.…

I credit this to my choice of using direct instruction as I felt it was appropriate and worked effectively with the class I was teaching. Research has found that direct instruction has the ability to, increase motivation, is an appropriate method for knowledge attainment and assisted in closing the knowledge gap between students (Glogger-Frey, et al. 2015 p. 83).…
