Lina is a 6th grade student with Other Health Impairment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and speech impairment to which she has a difficulty in reading comprehension and writing. She receives speech therapy to increase her social skills and occupational therapy to help with her handwriting. Lina needs to increase the ability to read a passage and respond on her age level as she is capable of understanding the vocabulary within the passages but not able to connect words in the sentence to comprehend. The student is within a regular classroom setting and is eager to learn new material but continue to struggles as she needs a graphic organizer which is provided to all students in the classroom. Even though Lina is using a graphic organizer to help her organize the reading material, she continues to struggle with finding the information within the passage …show more content…
Lina is require to be in a small group setting when being introduce to reading material while communicating with her peers. She is to use interpersonal skills to discuss the passage to accommodate to enable her progress of reading comprehension and social skills. In the classroom, Kalina will continue to benefit from a graphic organizer while highlighting important details, in addition, the school will provide Kalina and other students a computer systems called Write: Out Loud as it allows a student to type their sentences on the computer and it will read back to the student to improve the students writing ability. The cost of the device range from $84.00 a month for 1-4 computers to $336.00 a month for the entire school. As the students are learning how to write, many students struggle with the ability of formatting a sentence, this device allow the students to hear their sentence to eliminate
