Classification Essay: What Makes A Hero?

A hero is someone who helps others to make them feel better or gives them hope in some way or form. You always think a hero is someone super strength or super speed, a hero can be anybody. With being a hero, there are three main traits that describe what a hero is. Selflessness, Courage and Perseverance. Being through a struggle or being through adversity or seeing it can lead you to be selfless. I always think of two people; NBA Player Dwyane Wade and Connie Siskowski are people who I see as selfless. Dwyane lived in the mean streets of Chicago. His mom was getting very active, into drugs also as a child, he often remembers of the moment when he almost got shot, but he found basketball, Now he is very successful in life. Courage is when you are ready to stand up to danger or pain,in other word to having the ability of showing bravery. There are different ways to show courage, whether it's standing up for what you believe in or doing something you have never done before that is being courageous. Martin Luther King Jr. is a great example of being Dr. King was courageous because he was not afraid to go to jail for his beliefs and still believed he was able . He was also a brave person because he did not give up easily, even though people treat him and his family. Martin Luther King Jr. was very courageous because during his leadership in the civil-rights movement his beliefs and values were very strong, even while dealing with the anger and hatred. Dr. King said “If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps moving, you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all.” That means if you don’t have or express courage in life, you will hold back from ideas or won’t stand for your beliefs. Another great of being courageous is Nelson Mandela. Nelson was the president of South Africa during the apartheid. The apartheid was separated the races in South africa, Nelson Mandela didn’t want that. He wanted everyone to be united but unfortunately he was arrested several times but that stop Nelson from what he believed
