A modern hero is a much different thing than a classical hero. They're in some ways the same but in most ways different. They are two equally important things but two mostly different concepts. A modern hero is a normal person who has courage. A classical hero, however, is a person with a journey or a quest. First of all, the term classical hero is a term used for people or superheroes with powers such as flying, super strength, etc. These are people that have something others don’t or do things that others cant. These heroes have abilities that people, normal people, do not. An example of a classical hero would be Superman. He is someone who can fly, has super strength, laser vision, all things that no normal person has. It is a power that only a superhero has. A real example is Odysseus. He went through the stages of a hero’s story. He led the Greeks to victory in the Trojan War. He was a true, classical, hero. …show more content…
A modern hero is someone who does something that any person could do but only they have the courage and guts to do it. These heroes do something such as risk their life or put themselves in danger so as to help someone else. They do something courageous and they are heroes for that. An example of a modern hero is Victoria Soto. She put her life in danger and was killed while hiding and saving multiple kindergarteners. Every one of the kids lived but she died. She showed courage. Any teacher could do this but this one had the courage and was willing to die for these

Hero’s are everyday people that have done something for the greater good. A hero is a person who has gone out of their way to help or save something or someone from danger. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines a hero as, a person, typically a man who is admired for having courage or having outstanding achievements (Merriam-Webster). In my opinion this book definition is wrong, because heroes aren’t just men. Heroes can range from being a small town sports team that just won a state championship or soldiers who saved a community from a terrorist group.…

Everybody has a different outlook on a modern hero. Some people think of them as brave romancers, who would do anything for the damsel in distress. Others prefer a brother at arms, rushing into distress for those they love. No matter who it is though, these people expect equality from their “hero.” Nobody imagines a slave owner, or an Ellis Island employee as their hero.…

A hero is someone who understands the responsibility that comes with his freedom. In class we were asked to read three stories The Crisis No. 1, Speech to the Second Virginia Convention, and The Life of Olaudah Equiano and from the stories I saw that freedom today is a lot different from freedom in those stories. In America today we take for granted our freedom unlike Thomas Paine, Patrick Henry, and Olaudan Equiano who fought for our freedom and did not take it for granted, if those three people saw how much people discriminate others they would be offended because there hard work did not change much, and Americans has lost their faith in God and more and more are losing their faith every single day. We as a country take for granted out liberty rather than the people who came to America and…

Another example of a modern day hero is Doc Hendley who lives in North Carolina. He founded the Wine to Water Foundation, which gives clean water to people who don’t have it. He like Jorge Munoz did not need physical strength to fight a monster, and he fought the intangible evil of dirty water.
