An individual is born with language learning capacities that allows for language development and acquisition. Under the humans sciences, most psychologist take a biological approach to learn and comprehend about the functions of human brains. The specific parts and organs of the brain function according to their location. When studying the brain, it is accepted that the left hemisphere is the part in charge of “language processing and production” (King 81). More in depth, the brain structures involved with language are called “Broca’s Area” and “Wernicke’s Area”. Broca’s Area is involved with producing speech and Wernicke’s Area is involved with language comprehension. The fact that we are born with anatomical brain structures with physiological function that are in charge of language production proves that humans have a predisposition to acquire language. Linguist Noam Chomsky argues that humans are “biologically prewired to learn language at a certain time and in a certain way” (King …show more content…
Genie was born normally with minor complications, but none to the brain. However Genie was kept in “extreme isolation to which she was subjected, with its accompanying social, perceptual, and sensory deprivation ” (Fromkin).
