Class 7 Reflection Questions

**Note: I was a BUYER today

I think one thing that is key in the sales process that definitely affect the seller’s ability to handle the call, and that we didn’t have a lot of time for, was the pre-approach and investigation steps. We did have limited time for the sellers to prepare their sales pitch but it was evident that they didn’t really know anything about me and my concerns and values in terms of the product or my company. Specifically, it was evident when I came up with objections like we already have a competitor supplying us with printers or that the cost was too high, the seller was really good at trying to follow the steps in objection handling to figure out what my values and concerns were, but they didn’t really have a solution for me because they hadn’t done or know anything about potential competitors or about their own product. In real life, the seller would have

I completely switched gears as the seller was selling the new products for the Whistler location and I was concerned about the performance of the printers in the existing Victoria location. So, we ended up dealing with my objections right off the bat. When keeping track of the time as they only had about 7 minutes to pitch me their products, I found myself trying to wrap up the first set of objections and pivoting to the Whistler opportunity which I think the seller should have been doing. In reality, a buyer would not be so quick to accept the solutions of the seller and move on to the next topic. I think this was in part because I did not know anything about printer business so I was really unsure about how valid the solutions the seller offered were. My insight into this is that in reality, sometimes a buyer will not know much about your product or industry and so the seller has to do all that much more to convince me that the solution they are offering is really going to solve my

Without the ability to close and to obtain commitments, salespeople cannot advance a deal forward from one stage of the sales cycle to the next (Iannarino). This is what creates the business value, therefore, without it a salesperson cannot easily earn a future appointment, a future value-creating event (Iannarino). Without the ability to close a sales call effectively, salespeople often try to use or overbearingly rely on closing tactics and tricks that are unnatural and violate the prospect’s trust. Most folks and critics alike argue that closing a sales call is the most difficult part of the meeting. Yet, practicing and successful salespeople will say that closing the sale is actually fairly easy if the salesperson works hard enough to develop a relationship with the customer.…

TiVo’s new features offered consumers the opportunity to not be limited by networkers. However, changing consumer habits was extremely difficult. Most consumers are satisfied if a product is “good enough,” so they do not see a reason to switch. In TiVo’s case, on-demand television was new, but few really switched. Moreover, TiVo’s marketing campaign did not succeed as it was more difficult to explain the features of TiVo than to experience them, generating limited interest.…

Many business owners have the false idea that being successful in the market is all about providing good products or services. Very few consider company’s internal strategies as important impact on the business and what is being presented outside. Let’s have a closer look at it. We know managers are “busy” characters. They have tried hard to grow their business , balance the number of employees, build a reputation in the market, and in fact some of them have now more than one office and obviously they have out of office life too.…

As we have seen earlier the business has developed a new product but has no idea how many units to produce. The best estimate is to get the input of the sales team who collates all the potential sales volumes from their respective customers and then build it up to get a total volume of units required. This can be done by region, by country, by area all depending on the size of the business. This is still a very risky way of getting information because some customers will want to buy the product the moment they can touch it and hold it in their hands. People are very hesitant and don’t want to commit of a picture or a catalogue.…

Introduction: The statement itself explains why start-ups fail to run a long successful stint. They are either falling short of resources or are severely bashed by established administrative companies. In the era where the memory stint of a particular product in a customer’s mind is too small, these start-ups have to focus on introducing new tactics every time so that the next wave of copy cats feel impossible to share the market. Penetration is not the only question, it’s about how well are these ideas used for those areas. Having a product idea is not itself sufficient to lure people into believing that what they are buying is worth every dime paid.…

This article focused on four concerns: (1) lack of understanding of how to use analytics to improve the business, (2) lack of bandwidth due to competing priorities, (3) lack of skill set and last culture does not encourage sharing information. Many feel the data has to be correct in order for this to work; I guess this is why correct data was at the bottom of the barriers list. If these obstacles are so important, how does one know this will make a difference if an organization uses analytics? I have a question if other organizations are not willing to sharing information, how are people to learn? So if maybe organizations will have to turn to visualization and other technology to educate the…

Curtis: I think my biggest mistake that I did not do very well, when I started my first foray as a CNO, is lack of communication, in providing feedback to the frontline staff. If you do not communicate properly, there is a potential for information being skewed or misinterpreted, and then your staff do not feel empower, and they do not feel engaged. As I grow in the role that is one I really want to focus on at LBJH, and even with the CEO, our goal is to improve our…

Additionally, with the steps of qualifying and post sales servicing, it led to time drains. As sales regions were measured as cost centres, the sales force focused on meeting sales target above all else. Employees sold more volumes internally and the consumer initiated more than 80% of customer sales. Another trend arising was customers wanting to consolidate supplier base, therefore putting increasing pressure of price on HP. Although HP was a preferred vendor & strong in repurchase, the company lacked in the ability to enter the innovative projects segment.…

Smaller businesses and companies very rarely are even given this opportunity for success because they cannot foot the big bill of paying to collect and analyze the data. The use of big data can be a useful tool for companies and businesses to successfully compete in an industry. In my opinion, we should critically examine if it will lead to further disparities between successful and unsuccessful…
