The transition from high school to college can be rather strenuous. For Amber Lewis, she was aware that she must adjust to new beginnings and surroundings in a short period of time. She was excited to leave her little city of Sikeston in Missouri and move to Atlanta where she will begin her journey at Clark Atlanta University. She wanted change for once; a chance to start an experience on her own and learn from her mistakes, which will hopefully mold her into a prosperous person in the future. Throughout this experience, she definitely sees herself transforming into a devoted young adult.
Amber is a young woman from Missouri, a business major with hopes of working in a Fortune 500 company in the near future. Clark Atlanta is an illustrious University in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. Amber knew that if she attended an HBCU, she would be in competition with peers of the same race. She loved the idea of having colleagues that resemble her with goals and dreams to become successful. The environment is very motivating and inspiring. Being that she is a business major and Clark’s business school is known throughout the country, her attention was fully drawn. She already had her mind on Clark Atlanta by the simple research she discovered, she decided to take a tour to have a definite choice. After touring Clark’s beautiful campus, she was amazed. The students and faculty were so enthusiastic about their HBCU; it was so inspiring for Amber. While she toured it was stated that, “competition is high in this area,” right in Amber’s alley.
