When I was younger I worked for Claire’s, a young girl’s jewelry and accessory store, and everyday our store received inventory. The inventory we received always came from Hoffman Estates, a distribution center located in Chicago, Illinois. All of the company’s inventory for every store in North America is kept in this one location. This could be a huge issue if there was ever a natural disaster like the example in the book, the Caterpillar factory. The distribution center wouldn’t be able to fulfill its duties and the store locations in North America wouldn’t receive the inventory needed to restock the floor.
