Claiming Your Education Research Paper

Claim Vigorously, Responsibly, and Actively Many people think of education as receiving it, but I am taught to think of it as claiming it. When you receive, you are acting as a robot. Both perceive the information but are not capable of thinking or questioning, which opposes the concept of actively claiming. Claiming is a sign that reveals our passion towards things that grasp our interest. I tend to be claiming more actively toward subjects that interest me, an example just might be English Unlimited. Claiming your education means to look for ways you can actively participate inside and outside of school, college, or university. Most people think that education is sitting at school, taking notes and just listening to the teacher talk with nothing really going in your brain. This is what I call “robotically receiving” your education. Claiming is to be the rightful owner of something; in this case, it is education. Receiving is mainly just accepting that something is true. Claiming, to me, means asking questions that come to my mind. Receiving means just accepting that something is true without actual proof, just following what people say. Education is a contract between the teacher and the student that has to remain tacit. There are many ways of claiming your education. I claim my education by doing extra assignments, surrounding myself with people who push me further with belief and encouragement that I can do something, and reading for pleasure. If all students claim their educations in these ways, then I am sure the world will be made up of only intelligent people. “Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” - John
