Detaching myself from the world around me to look in as a third party exposed the culture I have been raised into. To complete this assignments I went to Mirror Lake on campus to observe and document the social behaviors I witnessed. I recorded over a two day span. I first sat by the northern side of the lake on the stone fence, to be aloof from what was transpiring in front of me. The second day I sat on the western side on the grass under the trees to get right in the middle of what was happening.…

While I have not had nearly as many hardships in my life as Jeannette Walls in her book The Glass Castle, there are still some things that her and I have in common. Throughout the book, Walls endured many struggles while traveling with her dysfunctional family. Jeannette’s father is constantly getting in the way of her success, from stealing her money to not always making her go to school. Eventually, she leaves her parents behind and makes her way to New York City, where she goes to college and finds success. Similar to how Jeannette had to overcome the obstacles between her and her success, her parents in The Glass Castle, I had to overcome the obstacle between me and my success, my bones.…

Your reflection of two questions establishes how much a bearing someone can possess by comprehension with daily assistance to up-and-coming minorities and immigrants as a director of an elementary school’s After Care as well as a family and community liaison such as computer, communication, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and parenting classes. The Guatemalan center in Lake worth is a prime example of other institution doing the same through lending a hand to understand assimilate these individuals into our civilization. Any existing language barrier would still serve as a threatening discouragement from them to adapt into the dominant American Culture. It was quite understandable for an inferiority complex to develop or spread…

These leadership skills helped me earn respect from each student. One of the ways I demonstrated leadership while presenting to the students was making sure they were focused on my presentation.…

    Fall River Reflection

Over the course of my visits to Fall River I think that my capacity to observe my environment and the factories stayed consistent. I naturally pay attention to minute factors and functions of my surroundings which I think is why I tended to focus on the machines and the smaller aspects of the factory. I also tend to be more reserved in social situations which lends myself to not being as willing to approach people, particularly because of the language barriers we faced at both factories and that such a great number of the employees did not wish to participate in the project. I think that over the course of my visits I was able to conceptualize all of the small parts of the factories and understand how they work in unison but I was not able…

Hawaii Five-O taught me a lot of things about family and what’s really important, and it brought me closer to my family every time we sat down to watch it.…
