Clabber Girl Interview Report

I had the opportunity to attend a quarterly meeting at Clabber Girl Corporation. The meeting was split into two different times: one for the overnight crew and one for the day crew. The meeting involved everyone in the company, no matter the department they worked in. The meeting was held during lunch, which was a catered by the Clabber Girl Bake Shop. My first job assignment with Clabber Girl was to update and change a few of the power point slides that were going to be used in the Clabber Girl quarterly meeting. The slides were being presented by the president of the company, Gary Morris. Many thoughts were going through my head as I was changing the slides, because they were not easy changes. I thought they were going to be too small, the president wasn’t going to like them or they …show more content…
Having only met him once, during my interview, he made me feel like I had worked there for years. One of the first things covered in the meeting was birthdays for the quarter. Mine of course was in January, I thought to myself; “My birthday will not be up there, after all I am new and I am a measly intern.” This was not the case. Not only was my birthday up on the board, but my name was also in the drawing for birthday gift cards and I got to draw the names because I was new. The second thing covered in the meeting was new employees, including interns. Yes, my name was on the list, and because I was at the meeting he made me stand in front of the entire group and introduce myself and they all welcomed me. I felt at ease from this point on. Mr. Morris was extremely energetic, upbeat, he cursed (not a lot) and defiantly kept your attention. He went on to review numbers, sales, new products and upcoming events. He reviewed positives and negatives in the company, and things that changed and will be

I first started looking for a summer internship during the spring 2015 school semester. I used various outlets and applied to many jobs in Long Island, NY and in Albany, NY. I found that using career websites, such as CareerSaint or Indeed.com, did not result in me finding much because I would send out my resume, and not really know who my resume went to so I could not follow up with the company if I wanted to. So, I started researching online, mainly using search engines such as Google.com, companies that I thought would be a good fit for me. My major is Actuarial Science, however I am still looking at working in different areas in business in order to find something that I really enjoy doing and can see myself doing as a career for the rest of my life.…

Attaining the position of a state office is extremely challenging at Girl’s State. If you chose to run for a state office, like I did, you have to campaign against 400 other girls.
