I show leadership, service, or scholarship character every day at school and home with all my sisters. But there are many events, where I show service more. For example, I help Ms. Soto with the PTA meetings that the school has, I also take care of her son Aaron whenever she has an important meeting to attend. I'm willing to give up my personal time to take care of Aaron because I feel like if I see anyone needing to help I should to help them in any way I can. It's something inside of me that wakes up and tells me " go help ", " they need your help, go to see what you can do." Or whenever I see someone stressed I offer my service to help. To be totally honest, I love helping others with organizing, grading, or anything else. I just like relieving …show more content…
Every Oct 14 they do a walk that helps create awareness about human slavery. I also like attending any protest at Make the Road or CEJ. Make the Road New York as I believe you know/knew is an organization that builds the power of Latino and the working-class communities to achieve dignity and justice through organizing, policy innovation, transformative education and survival services. CEJ stands for community educational justice they advocate for children's education. My mother is a member of both so whenever they hold to protest I gladly go.As an American and Mexican, I love helping out my Latino in anything they need. That's why I'm considering becoming a lawyer. For I can stand up for those who don't have a voice and does who is afraid of. Since right now my community and I am passing through gentrification. I want to make a change in many adults, children and teenage lives that are passing through this thing and are too afraid to speak up for themselves. As you can see while I'm saying all of this I'm also showing leadership. But I need to keep on working on my skills but for that, I need the support of my school, teachers, and fellow classmates who I'm looking forward to working

"It's every man for himself", a quote that I more or less went by. Truth be told, I wasn't always one to care about the wellbeing of the community. My wellbeing was my main focus. The thoughtof doing volunteer service never crossed my mind, until it became mandatory, in order to be inducted in the National Honor Society. Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) has guided me, a 49 year-old college sophomore, to utilize my academic grit in order to mentor other students, and past experiences to succeed in my educational and career goal as a visual healing artist. My 25 years of medical experience are rooted in my professional goal to be a visual healing artist. Mentors of my previous medical profession ranged from surgeons, doctors, and firemen to patients and their families, all of which helped me learn about human anatomy, kinesiology, and compassion for humanity. My medical career started over 25 years ago as an administrative assistant. I worked my way up the medical professional chain from my emergency medical technician (EMT) certification, registered dental assistant, x-ray technician, surgical technician, medical administrator of insurance billing and surgery scheduling, to an insurance agent of life and health, disability and long term care.…

My whole life has been a sort of bubble, with the same people attending the same community college and staying in the same town. When I came across Sarah Lawrence my sophomore year of high school, something immediately clicked. The college was something unlike any other school I had researched. For a girl from California, New York feels like a safe heaven from an endless cycle of the same rural town. Sarah Lawrence has a great public policy program, and from a young age, I have had strong opinions about Chicano identity and activism.…

Being a student at one of the most prestigious schools in the United States, you are given amazing classes which teach us various topics which eventually bring us back to our major or main topic of our undergraduate. Being a Mexican student, my knowledge is primarily about the struggles and stories from my own country. Coming to this school and meeting other minorities from other countries and taking classes that teach us about those countries as well, my knowledge about other problems and stories that happen to other students, families, and youth throughout the countries makes us realize that we are all the same and not alone when it comes to tragedies and inequalities like the ones many of us encounter in the US already. Attending "El Pais Que Viene” a Non-Profit Event & Book Launch, allowed me to connect the various topic and stories I learned in my Chicano studies class called “Central Americans” where we discussed the important events and inequalities that are happening throughout these central American countries and looking at stories through literature and media. Living in the Untied States as a minority, we tend to not tell our stories from our countries or even identify ourselves from those countries due to the negative image that the US has towards the people who come from these different countries.…

I exemplify service to my town and others by being an avid bullying advocate. I am an advocate of Sarah Kathryn’s bullying campaign. It is our goal to begin the process of stricter bullying laws in our state and country. Following the next school year, we are planning a “Relay for Life” for Sarah Kathryn to raise awareness of bullying. I believe my involvement includes the act of service for our town and National Honor Society because it contributes to bullied students and parents.…

For as long as I can remember, my family has taught me that you are supposed to do good things, not looking for any reward. I have maintained this motto throughout my life. This shows true as my accredited service hours equate to almost 1000, just in these 3 short years of high school. I volunteer for the Hilton Raiders to be their teen coach, help in Make a Difference Day, and have participated in multiple walks to raise awareness for a numerous amount of causes. I feel that it is my responsibility as a functioning citizen, to participate in making our community a better…

The National Honor Society (NHS) is a premier organization of high school students in the United States that was established to recognize excellence in students. But more than just being an honor roll, The National Honor Society serves to encourage students to go beyond academics and excel in the areas of leadership, community service, and character building. Through demonstrations of leadership, character, and service, I have shown my qualification to be admitted into the National Honor Society. Everyday, thousands of high school students immerse themselves in their community and create satisfaction in helping others in need. Community service is a critical aspect of teen development. Without it, students do not realize how much it means to help others, and they do not get the full experience of working with different people. Volunteerism is required in many high schools around the United States, but not all of them. This issue is incredibly controversial because the debate is whether community service actually helps students in the long run.…
