The Civil War brought into question many things regarding the way the country was run. Dived were the citizens of the nation concerning the direction they wanted to advance in. As the war had ultimately destroyed the former way of life they had to decide what they wanted to retain from the past and what needed to be revolutionized. The United States had a partial revolution due to the Civil War, as they reformed the United States on a social and constitutional level. Before the civil war, people knew that the South's behavior required a change in the nation. When the South succeeded it brought into perspective just how serious the situation had become. Lincoln stepped in and made many executive decisions that were questionably constitutional.
