Jack was preparing to be interviewed by a defense magazine on his recently stated views on the navy, and to respond to Frederick Williams statements about military programs that he supports such as the F-35 and the DDG-1000. As he sat down ready for his interview, the interviewer began to ask him questions "Senator, not too long ago you were bashing the littoral combat ship program. Would you mind elaborating on your statements? Jack replied "Well I don't think there's much to elaborate on. I pretty much covered it when I stated the ships are good in theory, but have become very bad in practice as they are expensive, unreliable, and cannot fulfill their duty and survive. The LCS needs to be greatly modified to be able to better fulfill its role as a deterrence to small fast craft, but the modifications should also make it able to survive against larger ships and ships of its size.

I'm thinking of an altered design of the Arleigh Burke Flight III Class that would focus more on the necessary specifications of a cruiser.
