Harper Lee's novel; To Kill A Mockingbird demonstrates that black people will never fully have their civil rights (by law) because of the segregation in the small town of Maycomb Alabama. Racism is still in effect as of today, it is apparent in our daily lives and in how black people are treated by our society. Harper Lee does it by using the character Mayella Ewell, Tom Robinson and everyone else that had something to do with the case. They accuse a black man, Tom, of raping and beating Mayella. The sheriff's story does not add nor does her dad's. Atticus Finch is his attorney who defended him.
