Over the past year I have take on more responsibility both as a member of Wake Forest but also as a member of the Winston Salem Community. At Wake I have become the Co-President on the Black Business associate and in the community I have become a mentor to a high school student. Both experiences have taught me a lot that will benefit my professionally. So what have a learned?

Being a team player isn’t just being reliable, collaborative, and respectful. Those are all elements of a good team member but my manager had an interesting take on the best team members he has ever had. “The best team members are the ones that challenge the status quo to make the team better.” He believes teams can often fall prey to group think and a good team member helps challenge the group to come up with innovative ideas. So along with being reliable, collaborative, and respectful I tried to challenge the group by asking the right questions and challenging the status quo.

If I am lucky enough to be selected for the role of Marketing Consultant I would be well on my way to achieving my first goal – Get a job with a company who values are closely aligned with my own. Hopefully, 5 years from now will be celebrating my 5th year with Chick-Fil-A and have accomplished the following professional goals.

Every day he went to work he seemed to relished his experience. One thing he told me was that the culture in Chick-Fil-A He told me about how much they work with his schedule, how collaborative his team is, and how much fun he had at work. Another one of my friends from Wake Forest (Harvey Kee) also told me about a similar experience during his internship over the summer. He had nothing but great things to say about the company and his co-workers. He often spoke about the community and collaborative environment that permeates the walls of Chick-fil-A. It became evident that that wasn’t an act but this IS Chick-Fil-A. After further research I found that Chick-Fil-A was the type of company where I could thrive both personally and professionally. Chick-fil-A’s involvement in the community was a big pulse, primarily their work with youth and education because that is a personal passion of mine. From corporate, to the stores, to the community. Chick-fil-A just does things the right way. Being part of a company I can be proud to represent is very important to man so I hope I have the the opportunity to represent Chick-fil-a.
The role I am interested in some type of marketing position where I can leverage my brand experience, promotional experience, and analytical ability.
