Civic Issue Of Drinking And Driving

The civic issue that I have chosen for this assignment is drinking and driving. The reason why I choose this issue, is because this issue affects me in many ways. First of all, even if I am not in a car with an impaired driver, there are chances another car may have an impaired driver. That car might crash into mine, and cause me serious injuries or even kill me. To reduce incidents like this, I believe drinking and driving has to come to an end. Also, in about six-months, I will start driving. Exploring more on this civic issue, will persuade me to never get behind the wheel, if I have alcohol in my body. These are the reasons why, I chose the issue about drinking and driving.

    I tried to give a show of the monumental impact that the MADD has had on our society by their use of campaigning for laws to be passed that would ultimately put more severe sanctions on driving while intoxicated and consumption of alcohol by minors. MADD came about because of two women’s courage to not just stand by and allow their children to become just a another statistic in the report instead they became whistleblowers on driving while intoxicated, changing public opinion, giving voices to victims who could no longer speak for themselves, and giving support to their families.
