Based on my “Seven Habits Profile” results, I would like to discuss how three strengths will help me succeed as servant leader. 1. The first strength I observed on my “Seven Habits Profile” is being proactive. This is the habit of taking responsibility for your life, not blaming others for your current situation, and controlling things you can control in your life. Being proactive means watching what my colleagues are doing and trying to stay one step ahead of them.…
I would first like to start off by expressing how honored I am for being recognized by your organization, as well as overjoyed to have received an invitation to apply for the Johnnie Ruth Clarke Scholarship. I am a focused young man, with a spirit of perseverance, and despite having adversities within my young life, they have not harmed my character, nor the goals that I have on the road towards my future success. I am looking forward with an optimistic mind that I will be so fortunate as to receive this scholarship, it will stand to be a major impact on my journey towards pursuing an active and productive role within society, as well as being a positive role model within my culture. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a fascination within the field of law and justice, I joined the Criminal Justice Academy’s magnet program located at Pinellas Park High School and…
Sometimes I wonder why, out of every city, town, and suburb in the entire country of the United States, my grandmother chose to move to Lynn, Massachusetts. A city otherwise rich in history, but unluckily dubbed over by an ingloriously annoying jingle, “Lynn, Lynn, city of sin, you’ll never come out the way you came in.” I heard it chanted through elementary school hallways, mocked by middle school kids, and hummed by high schoolers. You would think its omnipresence would keep away travelers, but, then again, my grandmother didn’t speak English. She came over from the Dominican Republic thirty-six years ago, with my mother and her five other kids.…
In terms of patient experience assisting frontline nurses whilst my mother was in hospital after a major surgery the task which involved transferring her to another bed in the next ward over via a wheelchair. The nursing staff and I were mindful of avoiding injury to staff and myself as well as the patient at the same time watching my posture plus doing manual handling procedures and guidance from the nurses. I performed the maneuverer correctly as I was able to advise the nurses to lower the trolley (bed) to the wheelchair height then lift the headrest forward so my mother is sitting upright before carefully moving her body onto the wheelchair in a one motion move by holding one side of her shoulders then pulling her gently and carefully towards…
"Louisiana are the most right-leaning states in the union” (Newport). The South reliably votes for Republicans and is often referred to as a Republican stronghold. In 2008, “Republican presidential candidate John McCain won Alabama by 21.6 percent” (Nypost). This highlights the regions right-leaning tendencies.…
The Growth of America Throughout American history, there has been many different documents that have lead to the growth of America. Each one of these documents have had different effect on America. These documents each had a crucial part in American history and without them America would be very different. I will be talking about five important documents that have changed the growth of America from the book “Essential American Documents and Speeches” Vol.1 and Vol.2. An important document to America’s growth is “Ain’t I a Woman” by Sojourner Truth.…
Service to my community also helps build character in a person that is beneficial to their future and futures of others.…
When asked the question, “what is your biggest accomplishment in the area of leadership,” the same answer comes to mind every time. It is an easy question for me to answer because of the tremendous impact this experience had on my life. In my junior year of high school, the SkillsUSA advisors repeatedly approached me about the SkillsUSA Pennsylvania Western Region Leadership Conference. I didn’t know what it was until they eventually pulled me and a few top students from my school aside and told us about having a “tryout” to see who would best fit to become an officer at the leadership conference. Each of us presented a prepared speech and an extemporaneous speech.…
Vincent Van Gogh once said, “How can I be useful, of what service can I be? There is something inside me, what can it be?” In life, one usually seeks their great purpose and of what use they can possibly be to the world. Since a child, I have always wanted to be able to create an impact in the lives of others around me. I always dreamt of being remembered in an honorable way because of the difference I know I could make in people's lives.…
My father was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and the way it affected him sparked my interest in medicine. At GCSE level, I learnt that diabetes results when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin to maintain a normal blood glucose level. Further interest led me to learn that the most common drug used is metformin, reducing the amount of glucose released. Currently the only way to delay/prevent diabetes in people who may have genetic predispositions to it is by maintaining a healthy weight. Recently, a study in Diabetologia showed that obese people with prediabetes could improve their metabolic health, by avoiding AGE products.…
In conclusion, the professional activities impacted me to become more compassionate, hardworking, mature, and ethical now that I’ve learn that each one of us has our part of representing MLS profession. This means what I do in our free time or on the job represents not only me as a person, but also my chosen profession and I should be proud to be a face people can relate to MLS profession. I also learn that I need to continue growing as a person in that there is always something I can improve in my life or in the life of someone else. Being involve in the community allows me to do both and more. When looking at my future career as MLS what I have learned doing the professional activities is irreplaceable.…
National Honor Society has always been an important organization in my family. My two older sisters were both involved in it, and I believe I would be a valuable member too. I was raised on the idea that must I must be dedicated to what I do, and that still plays a big role in my life. I keep myself very busy with multiple activities, but I still search to help out and to better the community. Many of my life experiences have made me a stronger leader.…
I feel honored with the chance to be considered as a student for National Honor Society and hold the value of the four pillars high in my individual standards and behavior. I am excited to see what the this organization and its developed goals change in this upcoming year. A correct understanding of the overall mission of the National Honor Society is noticeably aligned with the goals I set personally. NHS is meaningful to me because it is a great organization for me to be able to improve my work ethic in regards to every part of my life, horseback riding, babysitting, family relationships, and yearbook. I also enjoy service work of all kinds and I am looking forward to the chance to continue giving back to the community through NHS.…
