Civic Engagement refers to the active participation in “individual and collective activities associated with civic life, such as voting, being a political activist, joining community groups, and volunteering. While old aged people are viewed as if their “time” in society is over, many advocates of civic engagement believe that old adults such as baby boomers who have acquired a vast amount of knowledge are very useful to society. I slightly disagree with part of the meaning of civic engagement. While volunteering is considered part of civic engagement, I believe that it is important to note that there are different forms of volunteering.
