There are two slogans or phrases that is know by the Japanese. The first is Gambetta, meaning “to persist or never give up,” and kaizen, “a commitment to working for the continuous improvement of the community” (Seider, 2012, p. 164). The Pacific Rim students see these stipulations to be the center of the civic character development. In the meantime students are directed all the way through character education class that connects the learners to reflect within their responsibility, or position that is required when one is a member of the community.
