In the movie, “City of God: Want a Gun?” we see this event could be the climax of the story as it is the key turning point for how the hood is being run. A result of this scene is the major war that Li’l Z’ starts in his backyard without even seeing it coming. The scene only builds more and more suspense through the entire duration of the scene for what might happen next. In “City of God: Want a gun?” directed by Fernando Meirellese and Katia Lund, they use the camera in unique ways to create suspense in this climatic action through the elements of mise-en-scène and cinematography.

And the camera being in the house shows us all of … family items being destroyed as the shots ring out. As the firing ceases the camera inside the house acts as if it were one of the family members slowly recovering and attempting to come to the realization of what just happened by being shaky and out of focus. As they walk outside to the brother, the camera rotates to the right and we see Carrot also approach into the scene. It is here where they are standing over the son that Carrot asks …. “want a gun?” as a symbol of redemption and revenge for what Li’l Z’ has taken from him.
The next scene we get this parallel editing taking place where we just saw … receive a gun from Carrot, while Li’l Z’ is getting patched up by Tuba. All of the sudden shots ring out and Tuba is hit in the shoulder. It is here that we make the connections of the two scenes meeting up even though we do not initial see ……. During the scene even though the camera moves we see ….. approaching and we getting more and more of a close up as he approaches Li’l Z’s
