City Council Case Study

During the City council meeting the citizens and council discussed issues within the community. Topics varied, some topics discussed were local business and others everyday life problems.First off people from Beckmans Mills came to thank the council for the restoration and funds raised by volunteers. As well as allowing the twenty fifth anniversary to be held on Saturday. Also a man from a new business in tow introduced himself and what the business was. Next a locally owned grocery store was trying to get their beer license to sell alcohol, previously the idea was shut down but now it has passed. A couple has been having issues with their neighbors dog they claimed it has attacked people and the owner did not know how to take care of it. Also the neighbor had children and let them play in the roads unsupervised. They wanted the dog to be removed and the children to be checked up on in order to make their neighborhood safe. Also they talked about extending the distance of how far people have to be to smoke near a public building from fifteen feet to thirty feet. Another issue was of a property owner who wanted to extend their sewage pipe which would be paid by the owner. The Council was concerned on who would pay for this and whether other houses would be able to tap into that pipe or if it was for personal use …show more content…
I was not sure if all businesses/organizations had to do this or only certain ones. Why did they skip some of the things on the agenda and only glaze over others? There were some topics where I had no idea what they were voting on because they didn’t really talk about them. How come at the end of the meeting they discussed what they did over the past couple of weeks rather than on their free time? It seemed unnecessary especially since it really didn’t have anything to do with laws being past or current upcoming
