Vishnu Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Narsapur, Medak, Telangana

ABSTRACT In the present study , antiepileptic effect of the methanolic extract of the leaves of Citrus Grandis was evaluated by hand limb extension induced by chemically induced seizures in mice models. Two different doses were selected .The methanol extract of the leaves of Citrus Grandis (150, 200 mg/kg, i.p.) was studied for its antiepileptic effect on caffeine induced seizures in mice. Citrus grandis (150 and 200 mg/kg) significantly reduced the duration of seizures induced by chemicals. However, only 150 and 200mg/kg

After the extraction process is completed the solvent is collected and it is set for distillation.
The product is collected after the distillation process is completed and it is washed for several times and kept for air drying. The product is stored in air tight container at 25-35celsius.[38]

Experimental animals
Swiss mice of either sex, 8-10 weeks old, weighing about 25-30 g were used in Experiments. Animals were housed in polypropylene cages maintained under Standard condition (12 hours light / dark cycle; 25 ± 3 0C, 45-65% humidity) and had Free access to standard rat feed (Hindustan Liver Ltd., India) and water ad libitum All the animals were acclimatized to laboratory condition for a week before commencement of experiment. All experimental protocols were reviewed and accepted by the Institutional Animal Ethical Committee (IAEC) prior to the initia0tion of the experiment[39].
Screening of Anticonvulsant activity
• Fresh drug solutions were prepared on each day of the experiments. Drugs were administered intraperitoneally (i.p.) to the animal.
• Control animals received equal volume of injections of the appropriate

Purpose and Background Cells divide in two ways, mitosis and meiosis. Mitosis is used to produce cells that are genetically identical to the parent cell for growth, asexual reproduction, or repair after injury. Cells that are produced by mitosis are diploid, meaning that they have two complete sets of chromosomes, one from each parent. Meiosis is used to produce haploid cells that have only one set of chromosomes, a mix of chromosomes from both parents. Meiosis produces cells that are genetically unique from their parent cells.…

Purpose: The purpose of this laboratory was to synthesize isopentyl acetate, commonly known as banana oil, in a reaction of methanol and isopentyl alcohol catalyzed by sulfuric acid. Through this Fischer esterification reaction, it was possible to learn about using a Reflux condenser to run a reaction as well as purifying the product through various washes and extractions along with simple distillation. In addition, the product of the experiment was carefully analyzed based upon boiling point, physical characteristics, IR and 1H NMR. The overall objective was to successfully isolate the product of isopentyl acetate and observe the purity of this product.…

Extraction of Caffeine from Tealeaves Rosheen Villaraza, Dana Young, Dana Yu*, and Ray Zafra Department of Biological Studies, University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines Abstract Experiment 3 highlights the separation of caffeine from tea leaves and using chromatography for testing its purity. Extraction is a method of separating the desired from the undesired substance in a mixture through the solubility properties of the substances. In the experimental extraction, Camellia sinensis was used and extracted with CH2Cl2, 6M NaOH, and NaS04 which yielded 0.0258g or 0.25% caffeine. Water boiling point is 100℃ while caffeine boiling point is 178℃. Extracted caffeine was tested to be pure through a comparison with a pure caffeine in the method…
