Bearing in mind that civic responsibilities denote participation in the life of a community in a constructive manner with the general aim being the common good. Civic responsibilities aid in the development of good and productive citizens to the society who will contribute to nation building. In so doing, the society ends up with positive role models who can model appropriate behavior and in turn educate citizens about civic responsibilities and other things. The downside of civic responsibilities for citizenship education however is the fact that often times, these things, that is laws are manipulated by those in power and, in an effort to receive the results that they desire, they coin things to suit themselves and end up misleading/guiding and eventually sending persons down the wrong avenue. This will result in the appearance of a nation that is characterized by double standards and as such, it may result in conflict as persons will end up fighting for equal …show more content…
Globalization affects citizenship education in the sense that while persons are busy comprehending the trends of other societies, the focus on issues of importance to their own societies are missed and in some instances, globalization results in persons moving away from learning citizenship education as, in many cases, the contexts on which the values of particular communities are built vary. This sometime results in conflicts among different countries with regards to race and religion. Globalization has also resulted in a loss of identify and enthusiasm about one’s own culture. For example, most children these days aren’t the least bit cognizant of their ancestral lineage but they are able to tell what the newest trend in fashion is or they have adapted significantly to the western way of life through the use of technology even though they haven’t been there before. Globalization is also good in the sense that it aids in the holistic development of the nation as, in an effort to move past the present, persons should be able to accept new ideas and implement where possible if they are seen to be for the betterment of all the stakeholders
