This movie Citizen Kane was directed by Orson Welles. The movie was released on September 5, 1941. Citizen Kane was known as a drama or mystery movie. This movie was made in a very unique way with flashbacks and flash forwards. In this essay I will discuss the how important flashbacks and flash forwards are, the flashbacks, and flashforwards. Flashbacks and flash forwards are very important in this movie. If you did not pay attention to this movie entirely than you will be lost. In this movie, Citizen Kane it was told out of order. The reason it is told out of order is because it is trying to reach the climax which is what one-word means. They are more flashbacks than flash forwards in this movie. But having flashbacks in this movie tells …show more content…
Citizen Kane has many flashbacks. Everybody in this movie is trying to reveal what does rose bud mean. This story is told by many different characters to try to figure it out. The first example I will use is when they are reading the note stating it is 1871 and a kid is playing in the snow. While, his mother and father are arguing inside about who has the kid. This is a flash back because, Kane mother signed off Kane to the banker Mr. Thatcher. The reason Mrs. Kane gave Kane away was for him to live a better life because, they were struggling economically. This flash back shows how his childhood was like. When Thompson goes visits Mr. Bernstein he tells him about how Kane publishes a declaration of principles. By him publishing that that is how Kane meets Emily. This how Kane got up in his first job as a paper boy and meet his lover. Another flash back is when the marriage between Charles and Emily is falling apart. At first they are close together than finally at the end of the scene they are really far apart from each other. This shows the down fall of there relationship. This scene was discussed between Thompson and Leland. Another flash back is when they move to Xanadu with his new wife Susan. From there his relationship ends bad because Susan finally leaves him. Which where Thompson meets Raymond the butler. This is the most important flash back of the whole movie because, this is where we finally reach rosebud.

Citizen Kane was a movie that I was a little confused in at first. When the television real started I did not know what to expect. However, I enjoyed the movie once I started to gain an understanding on it. This movie was one that showed the life change of the kid and how he lived his life the way that his caretaker had lived his. He hated that life style so it was very ironic in the sense that he did everything that the one who took him away from his parents did.…

An example of this in the film is when Kane’s ex-wife is explaining the end of their marriage, stating it was his fault and insinuating he was a controlling, overbearing husband. This depiction from a third party is tainting the audience’s perception of Kane and this is not consciously noted until the end of the film when his last words related back to his troubled childhood. The compilation of flashbacks regarding Kane’s life serves as an element of restriction for audiences due to point of view, however also gives some insight to how and why he was…

Viewers immediately are given a sense of how much he is obsessed with himself, but the camera switches to a high angle view to show Gettys menacing over Kane. North by Northwest, Alfred Hitchcock’s 1959 thriller, features a handsome lead, a beautiful love interest, a charming villain, and exciting action scenes that led to it being called “the first James Bond film,” as noted by The Guardian’s John Peterson (Peterson). Even if it is one’s first time viewing the film, it is easy to pick up on moments that are obviously iconic, including the moving text in the opening credits, the crop duster attack, and of course the final scene on the face of Mount Rushmore. Although the film spouts originality and iconic moments, there is one element that stands most important in moving the plot, which is in my opinion, the microfilm, otherwise known as a “MacGuffin.” According to Michael Kurland of New York Times,…
