When I started to reading the part that Cisneros asked her dad if she could live alone, in paragraph five. It reminded me of a time when my cousin who is about 19, wanted to do the same thing but in his case he was pursing to become an artist at the time, compared to Cisneros becoming a writer. In any case a writer and an artist have much in common in how their work is being done. Some writers like writing in a busy day at Starbucks, others like writing in a room just to themselves. Well this also goes for an artist, some like to be surrounded by people, objects, colors, others not so much, they would prefer a quite peaceful room where they can focus.
