Over the many years mankind has been on the earth they have been building homes and structures. As the world was evolving and changing so were the buildings and structurers. It seemed to be mankind were constructing the building to the environment around them. So depending on what was going on had a huge impact on have the buildings were constructed. Now that mankind is all about wanting to save resources and create more self-sustaining buildings. A self-sustaining building is a structure that does not rely on any or no outsource resources. It also is a structure that is environmentally friendly, such has it uses less energy or even creates its own energy. The structure has a reduced amount of water used, or can repurpose water. One of the biggest problems that can be found in almost every structural building is a high usage in water. Water is a must have for any building but how do you keep the building from using too much water or wasting water. People have come up with new ways to conserve water usages. One of the most commonly used appliance in every building that needs to be watched on how much water it uses is the toilet. The toilet can use up to almost three to five gallons of water every flush, and in most industrial sized buildings that over thousands of gallons of water a day. When just thinking about how much water that is being used it is outrageous. So engineers have come up with a new toilet appliance known as a low-flow toilet. A low-flow toilet does what a toilet needs to but instead of using the whole five gallons of water it can change to only use up to one gallon which can cut the water usage in at least half, which is a great was to save water. Also learning how to reuse water is an important idea. Simple as reusing the rain water that usually will just flow back to the earth but now there are ways to have that water help out by building roof gardens that can help with the energy efficiency of the
