The animals do not mean to harm the trainers or audience: many animals are less harmful in the wild then they are in captivity. As a result of the constant pressure to not get abused it can lead to many problems faced in the animals. There are countless cases reported about a circus animal attacking someone due to anxiety or the abuse. “Since 1990, there have been more than 123 documented attacks on humans by captive large cats in the United States, 13 of which resulted in fatal injuries.” (“What’s”) It may seem that the attacks happened because it was large cats, but there is also evidence of elephant attacks and prairie dog attacks. The one constant throughout all of the attacks is the circus, and the circus is known for the torture on the animals. The attacks should not be blamed on the animals considering they should not even be held captive. But attacks of the animals is not the only threats they provide to the guest. Another threat is the illness many of the wild animals carry. “Many circuses have a history of tuberculosis in their elephants, and many have even used TB-positive elephants in public performances, potentially endangering families and communities.” (“What’s”) The families are not aware of these risk when attending the circus. A lot of young people go to the circus for the fun, they do not go for the illnesses carried by the animals. Because of all of these known risk: illness, attacks, deaths among the animals, and torture, circuses should not have wild animals in the show. Some circuses may have proof of healthy living states and no reports of illness or abuse towards the animals. Although very few circuses have proof of healthy living spaces, circuses are still not right considering the anxiety the animals will get which can risk attacks on people and the trainers.
