The majority of large animation producers of the time were drafted in to produce informational films for a number of different aspects of the war effort. Animation was now being sought after as a form of motivating and explaining in an engaging manner due to its relatively simplistic nature of the time (Solomon, 1994). It seemed that animation had begun to move away from the notion that it could only be used as a form of entertainment. It was now being utilized for its ability to convey information. In the very best examples of claymation, a filmmaker’s ability to focus on subtle movements and details makes their characters look lifelike and fluid. If you’ve done a good job building your clay character, they’ll end up looking less like Frankenstein’s Monster and more like something you might find walking down the street! One of the ways that professional clay animators do this is by making multiple versions of one feature of a character, rather than trying to move it for each frame. For example, a clay person might have 20 or more mouths, each one with different expressions that the animator can swap out in between shots. If the character is smiling, their smile has to grow.…

In total, we worked on 18 different sequences split over 5 episodes (1, 2, 3, 4 and although Cinesite’s work covered a good range of visual effects, they were predominantly driven by environment work. 2. Had I known that the mountain of paperwork I was about to fill out that late July morning would ultimately lead to me finding my passion, I would have definitely been a lot more enthusiastic.
