1. After hearing Cindy’s story, do you relate to anything she says regarding her weight insecurities? What specific parts of her story stood out for you?
I can relate to Cindy’s insecurities when asking, “Do I look fat.” The specific part that stood out was when she was accepting with the fact that obesity runs in her family and targeted her sisters.
2. Where is Bogalusa located and what was this storyline about? Is there anything about this segment that will affect the way you think about the factors that affect your health and/or your family? What was the most surprising to you about this study?
Bogalusa is located in Louisiana. This story line was about as study done within the city on heart disease. What will affect me would be the …show more content…
Do you have a good sense or idea of whether or not you and your family are at a healthy weight? What are some of the things you can do to find out whether your weight or your child’s weight is unhealthy?
Yes, I have a good sense on my family’s weight on whether it’s healthy or not. You can go to your physician and get a physical done to find out your BMI. Also school doing physical checkups within the school year.
4. Do you see any parallels between where you live and the communities mentioned in the film? How is your community the same or different? Are there enough parks or safe places for kids to play? Besides safe parks, what changes might make a difference in your neighborhood?
Where I use to as a child was Lodi, Ca which was a middle class city. This community I lived in didn’t have parallels as the one in the film because we had many parks and activities within our community. My community was different because we were offered many physical actives within the community like recreational sports and summer programs like the boy and girls club. We had a park every mile or so.

What impressed you about Roy’s story? Be specific.
Roy’s story impressed me because he was actually ashamed of his weight and made a difference. Another thing that impressed me was after his heart attack he choose to change his ways because of his risk and attitude of feeling ashamed. Not everyone has the will power to change.
7. Did you learn anything new about the effects excess fat has on our bodies? Which piece of information stuck out for you? Is weight something you feel comfortable discussing with your health care provider?
I did learn something new. I learn that your body fat is not only outside but within due to excess fat which effects other organs and their functions. I feel very comfortable with discussing my weight with my doctor because I want to remain healthy beyond my previous health conditions.
8. How did you react when Jennifer listed off the fat content of popular fast foods? Were you surprised?
I was shocked because I didn’t know that fast food really held that much fat within their foods. I was very surprised because Jennifer doubled her fat off of a short amount of time consuming a large amount of fast food. This reminds me of the video Super-Size me which is the reason I don’t eat fast
