Another similarity was the stepsisters/ stepmother. In Cinderella the stepsisters are these snotty girls that make Cinderella do all the chores and the stepmother allows this to happen, The stepmother also treats her this way and making her life miserable. It's the same for Ashputtle with the sisters and stepmother adding chores to the original chores just so she couldn’t go to the ball. Both of these stories are unique in their own way. With the Brothers Grimm version being gory and CInderella being a happier tone with no gore, except for the cat.
