Cinderella Story Comparison Essay

The story of Cinderella is well known all around the world but not all of these 700 stories are the same. Each of these stories are culturally diverse and have different themes and ideas. Still many of these tales also share similar magical elements, characters, and endings. All these similarities create suspicions because most of the stories were written when communication was almost impossible from country to country. One main subject shared between these tales is the stupidity that the men have. For example, in Aschenputtel the stepsisters were bleeding everywhere and he didn't even notice. For instance in Yeh-Shen the old man/sage showed her the power of her deceased fish which lead her to the party. Also in Aschenputtel the hazel tree gives her the courage (throw her outfit and new appearance) to go to the three day festival. Many fairy tales have a significant magical elements that make the story whole. Still there are numerous differences in the tale. These fairy tales have many different factors that separate the stories. Such as when and where these stories took place. For instance Sootface was taking place in early America . Meanwhile, Rhodopis was written in the early 1st century BC in Egypt and Yeh-Shen 850 AD in China. This time and location separation makes these tales have very different themes. While these fables were written in different parts of the world at different times but they still have very similar attributes. In conclusion these fairy tales, folk tales, and stories have several dissimilarities. But are very alike in many ways making them fascinating stories that kids and adults love.
