In the short story “Where Are You Going,Where Have You Been,” Joyce Carol Oates expertly executes the aspects of the horror genre by adding fairy-tale aspects like Cinderella and Red Riding Hood to characters and atmosphere; giving the tale an eerie feeling. Throughout the story, the actions that Connie takes against Arnold portrays the damsel as a tragic victim of a man who has such a sexual appetite for the poor soul that her fate becomes unavoidable. "Cinderella" by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm resembles the classic Disney fairytale version of "Cinderellea" almost identically. The short story introduces Cinderella, her father, stepmother, and stepsisters in the same way Disney had while going more indepth with Cinderella and her father's story line. When the prince initially found his princess then realized what the other older stepsister did to make her foot fit into the glass slipper was where this rendition took a turn away from happiness and towards dark reality. In the end though Cinderella found her prince charming the stepsisters saw her go away. When comparing Grimm's rendition of "Cinderella" to Charles Perrault's rendition the differences are not in the setting or conflict but rather…

Two of Broadway’s most talented voices emerged from the hit musical, “Wicked.” Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth both had been in broadway shows long before but wicked was the one that blew them into stardom. The musical displays numerous singing acts that tell the story of a girl who grew up slightly different from the rest and a stereotypical popular girl that tried to help her gain her confidence. Idina and Kristen’s voices are like no other in the musical because their voices bring our qualities in their character that complement the character so well. The dark alto tones of Idina plays off of the envy and awkwardness her character constantly lives with.…
