The glass slipper Cinderella leaves at the ball parallels with the cyborg foot Cinder loses when she attempts to escape the ball. On page 365, “On the fifth step, she heard the bolts snap. The wires tore loose, like tendons stretched to the max. She felt the loss of power at the base of her calf, send a blinding warning signal up to her brain.” This evidence is quite gruesome but still shows that the glass slipper links with the loss of the foot because it talks about how the foot was lost at the ball when Cinder/Ella …show more content…
One is with Cress where she gives Cinder the reason to go to the ball and another is Iko who provided Cinder with the dress. The other godmother I thought of was Doctor Erland because he tells Cinder who she really is. Doctor Erland is one parallel because the godmother in Cinderella helps her escape her prison with her stepmother and sisters, while in Cinder, Dr. Erland literally helps escape her prison with Levana.
Cinder and Cinderella both become princesses after attending the Royal Ball. While both balls are different with some similarities this is the one that I first thought of. In Cinderella she becomes a princess by marriage to the prince and Cinder becomes a princess by being told by Doctor Erland. This is an important parallel but not as prominent because not many people would think to much about this similarity between stories.
One parallel that also crossed my mind was that Cinder and Cinderella were both treated as slaves and not treated very well. Cinder is forced to hobble around on foot to small and work for money and is then giving away as if she is a possession not a human being. Cinderella is just treated as a maid not a member of the house, she is forced to sleep on the ground and is then expected to do everything for her step sisters and
