Cinderella And The Glass Voice Comparison Essay

Decent Essays
I have read two books called, Cinderella: the graphic novel and The Glass Voice. While reading I found a lot of similarities and differences. One thing I found that was similar is when both Ella and Chantella's moms die, and they are very sad. Both Fathers end up marrying an evil step mother. Another thing that I read about in The Glass Voice that I can compare to Cinderella: The Graphic Novel is, their step mother makes them clean up, while the other two siblings sit down and do nothing. In both books their dad ends up passing away or turning against their daughter. In Cinderella: The Graphic Novel Ella's father is spoiling his new wife and his step daughters and at close the end of the book they never mentioned Ella's dad.In The Glass Voice …show more content…
I have found a cool similarity in these books too, both of their names end with e-l-l-a. In Cinderella: The Graphic novel and The glass voice there is something both of the main characters want to do. Ella wants to go to the ball, and Chantella wants to go audition. Their step mothers try to stop them, but at the end they have a happily ever after. I have also found some differences in The Glass Voice and Cinderella: The Graphic Novel. In Cinderella: The Graphic Novel Ella is in the time where there are princes and princesses. She goes to the ball to meet the prince. Unlike The Glass Voice, Ella gets a beautiful dress, just with the touch of magic from her fairy god mother. In The Glass Voice, her nanny Verna finds Chantella's mother's dress from when her and her father met. In Cinderella: The graphic novel Ella's step siblings are both girls, in The Glass Voice Chantella's step siblings is a boy and a girl. In The Glass voice Mara wants her twins to win the" Next Teen Star" audition, and in Cinderella: The graphic novel, her stepmother wants her one of her two daughters to marry the

Almost all girls have either seen or have heard the “Cinderella” story before. Being a princess has been most girl 's dreams as a child, but little do they think about the theme and the message the “Cinderella” story creates. Elisabeth Panttaja, professor from Tufts University and author of the article “Cinderella: Not So Morally Superior,” explains a theme that people may find unsettling because she claims that Cinderella and the prince may not have been in love. She hints at the fact that Cinderella’s mother may have been the culprit in scheming and seducing the prince into marrying her.…

In the Grimm tale the moral focuses on not being wicked to another while Disney teaches that if you are kind good things will come your way and both share in the theme of greed, while those message relates to each other the level in which they deliver is different. Both stories start with the death of Cinderella’s mother and the remarriage of her father to a woman with two daughters, differing slightly in the fact that Cinderella’s father does not die in The Brothers Grimm version. While Disney grants Cinderella with a room the Grimm story has her sleeping in the ashes by the fire, where she gains the name of Cinderella. The Brother Grimm’s version of Cinderella has hidden meanings in the stories that teach us about how the story resembles or symbolize our society. The first symbol in the story that stood out to me the most is the stepsisters representing society 's cruelness and greed. The second symbol was the stepmother’s envy of Cinderella 's beauty, because Cinderella was more beautiful than her daughter 's. The stepmother thought that her daughter’s were not as beautiful as Cinderella and as a result she was envious of Cinderella, this represent a society dominated by envy and hate. The third symbol is the hazel tree that provided Cinderella with the wisdom and inspiration to overcome the abuse she was going through, this represents how society rewards…
