The royal beauty lay unconscious in bed with heart-shaped lips, glossy fluffy hair and all the pathetic-ness in the world. Prince Charming was under the sleep spell, and every finger on his hands, every hair on his head lay still. “HAI – YA!” The door was kicked open and in came Snow White, Cinderella and a very cross Sleeping Beauty. Prince Charming woke up with a start and yawned. “Oh good, you’re here” he said, and sat up whilst reaching for his mirror, that said on the frame “Your hair looks great today!” “Well, you wouldn’t believe the 2 months, 3 weeks and four days I’ve had!” said Sleeping Beauty pacing up and down. “Same here,” said Snow White, (trying to get a bird off her shoulder). “Me too!”, exclaimed Cinderella, tying up the laces on her practical …show more content…
“Well, I suppose that you’ve come to rescue me and take me home”, said Prince Charming, casually. “Maybe!” said the angry princesses in unison. “But not before you’ve apologised for being an absolute nuisance.” “For instance?” asked Prince Charming, looking up from his mirror gingerly. “Well…” Cinderella got out a long scroll and glanced at the list. “Remember that time when you chose to try saving Rapunzel? You fell asleep halfway up her hair!” “Well maybe I was having a bad hair day!” protested Prince Charming. “And remember that time that you tried to help me clean up my cottage, and swept my lovely, helpful mice into the bin?” exclaimed Snow White. “How was I to know they were all-singing, all-dancing cleaners?” complained Prince Charming. “And remember…” started Sleeping Beauty, “Ok, ok, I get the idea”, interrupted the Prince. “But is it too late now to say sorry? Cause I’m really missing my Mummy,” he snivelled. “Alright then,” replied Sleeping Beauty with a heavy sigh, “but first,” and she leant towards Prince Charming. “Oh you Princesses are all the same”, sighed Prince Charming, bending forward to kiss

In both “The Princess Paradox” by James Poniewozik and “Cinderella and Princess Culture” by Peggy Orenstein, the princess culture is agreed upon; however, the authors vary their opinions of how the fairytail dream of pink dresses and sparkly crowns came to be. Poniewozik opens up his article by addressing the “kick-ass culture,” while Orenstein focuses on how princesses have diminished the feeling of confidence and independence that young girls should experience. While some may believe that princesses show the younger generation that females possess the ability to accomplish anything a male can, others believe that this trend aggressively encourages the idea of “perfection” in our modern society. Both “The Princess Paradox” and “Cinderella and Princess Culture” discuss the rules and…

These women have proven themselves as being positive role models through their good deeds for others. But more specifically a focus will be drawn upon the good deeds princesses have done for the men in which they have been accused of constantly yielding to. Many examples show princesses saving men from life-threatening situations. In The Little Mermaid, Ariel reverses gender roles and saves her prince, Eric from drowning. Also, at the end of Tangled, Rapunzel cuts her hair in order to save Flynn (her lover) from dying.…

Surrounded by a swirling rainbow of glass that told the story of Cinderella, I ascended the spiral staircase to a dining room fit for a princess. I was overcome with joy as I sat at a table with my family and saw the characters from the movies that I loved so much waltz through the hall. My mother took a photograph of me with Cinderella, a picture I still have today. Since it was a vacation I had a steak and potato wedges, a welcomed change from my usual chicken nuggets. My perfect Disney dream was coming true, at least I thought it was.…

When Disney released its first animated film, “Snow-White and the Seven Dwarves”, it became an instant classic. Since then, the cheery chirpy version of the story is what has stayed in the hearts and minds of young readers. The story is based off of the Grimm Brother’s version of the tale; although by no means the oldest version of the story, it is the most popular version known by readers today. However, although the image of the Disney version is bright, even the cleaned up version written by the Grimm Brothers is significantly darker than what most people might have in mind when they think of “Snow-White”. One of these darker elements is the nature of the mother-daughter relationship represented in the story as it portrays the mother-daughter relationship as a power-struggle between a young, beautiful girl and a cunning, jealous mother figure.…

Further, I analyzed that sexism in the narrative, especially in the scene where she was with the dwarfs and the only way that she could be accommodated, she was to serve them, cook for them, clean, sweep and wash to keep the cottage tidy. This is portraying that the roles of women are clean while the dwarfs symbolizing men go out to do menial jobs. Additionally, the plot of The Little Snow-White is straightforward, and it narrates a story where the beauty of the Little Snow-White attracts envy and hatred from her own stepmother, that almost caused her death. The beautiful queen with a heart as dark as the bats of the night ordered a huntsman to kill the innocent seven-year- old princess. The narrative was told from the point of view of an omniscient narrator that gives the reader the opportunity to share in the struggle of the little princess.…

Therefore, her decision of the tree branch was a major turning point for Cinderella and that humble decision opened a lot of possibilities for her life and future. On the contrary, her stepsisters asked for dresses and jewels. All they asked for was nothing but superficial and materialistic objects. Thus, they got what they asked for, but did not deserve the gifts.…

When girls are older they want to find their true love then create their family,” which reinforces the fairy tale love stereotype that girls need to wait for their prince then fall immediately in love with him, with the reverse being true for boys(60). An example of this is seen in the story of Rapunzel, where she is locked in a tower and a romantic prince comes to rescue her, where they end up falling madly in love. An ideal of love passed through this story is that your dream prince will come find you or that if you are a male you should go find your princess idly waiting for you. The story of Rapunzel also adds to the idea that women should be passive and wait for their prince to come and take them far away and men have to go out and rescue their princess. Another inaccurate portrayal of love is true love at first sight, which is seen in the story of Sleeping Beauty, where Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip stumble upon each other and then fall madly in love at first sight.…

“Cinderella is considered one of the most influential because we like Cinderella not because of her character traits, but by what she receives in the end for being kind and compassionate. We wish that Cinderella’s story was actually true, but in reality, we know that Cinderella was never never really a fairy tale, but a myth” (Baum). Cinderella is only a story of what we all want to be true, but sadly, it is not. “We discover that the way to win a prince is over the ugly bodies of our competitors, who are similarly trying to cut our throats. Beauty on its own is not enough: you have to be seen by the right people.…
