“Mother,” I called as I bolted down the stairs two at a time, “Mother are you alright” I reached the foyer to see my mother fall on her knees, her face covered in tears. I looked up to see soldiers and I knew what it meant. I heard the soldiers offering their condolences to my mother. I helped her to her feet, thanked the soldiers and sent them on their way. “I don't care if it's true or not, you need to watch what you say,” Mother said, she turned to apologize to Cinderella, but she was already gone. It was the day of the ball and the house was in chaos. Dresses and feather boas were being tossed all over the room. Elinor was screaming that she couldn't find her dress and we were all running back and forth trying to get ready.
