Chupacabra
What is a Chupacabra? “[A Chupacabra] is a legendary creature in the folklore of parts of the Americas, with its first purported sightings reported in Puerto Rico” (Wikipedia). There are people who believe it is real and others who believe it's just a myth. The Chupacabra is real because there are eyewitnesses that saw it, there are many dead animals that have been drained of their blood, and it was even identified by an expert.
The first reason why the Chupacabra is real is because there are eyewitnesses that saw it. An example of an eyewitness would be the Chupacabra that was spotted late in June in Rukshin, in Western Ukraine by a farmer. The farmer that spotted it was able to catch it and kill it before it could do any harm to

In cresson Texas, a county animal control officer, shot the animal, and identified it as a Chupacabra. The officer spotted an animal enter a barn, which led the officer to shoot it from causing any harm to any livestock or people that may have been around. Later he showed the beast to his colleagues and they identified it a chupacabra. According to UPI, sponsor of the article “Expert: 'Chupacabra' a Coyote-dog Hybrid”, states, “Collins, a member of the Texas State Guard, said he showed pictures his colleagues during a drill and they identified the beast as a ‘Chupacabra’”(UPI). This quote shows that the colleagues from the animal control were able to identify the beast as the legendary Chupacabra, stating that the creature shot by the officer is indeed the legendary Chupacabra. Another thing that can prove the Chupacabra's existence is that a DNA analysis was performed by experts it was found that it had a mix of genes between wolves and coyotes. This made this beast a hybrid called the Chupacabra. According to Nina Golgowski, Author of the article, “Chupacabra sightings in Texas backyards are result of crossbreeding: Animal Experts”, states, “In 2008, A DNA analysis on an alleged Chupacabra specimen conducted by History Channel's MonsterQuest found it to have a mix of chromosomes shared by coyotes and wolves of Mexico and Texas” (Golgowski). This quote shows that wolves and coyotes …show more content…
In 1995, when the movie species came out, reports about Chupacabras started to show they were much like the Chupacabra in the movie. Radford interviewed a woman and she based her drawing on the movie “Species” she had saw a few weeks ago. According to Bjorn Carey, author of “El Chupacabra Mystery Solved: Case of the Mistaken Identity”, states, “The creature, Radford noticed, shared a strong resemblance to the alien/human hybrid in the 1995 sci-fi thriller “Species”. This quote shows there is similar traits between Hollywood’s Chupacabra and the real one that people describe it as, meaning maybe they just think they saw it. Because of this, the people have been influenced by it, showing the Chupacabra may not exist, but that still doesn’t explain all the dead animals. Also, it's possible the animals were killed by something else, but the Chupacabra sucks all the blood out of its prey, making it very clear it's only of the only animals capable of this. Even if the people were influenced by a movie, something still had to kill all that livestock, making the Chupacabra look like a logical

One creature that is obviously based on a real animal are selkies, women with seal skins that can be worn in order to transform into a seal, who are, in stories, forced into marriages when men steal their seal skin so they cannot return to the ocean (Logan np). This is obviously a lesson teaching boys to not steal and force women into relationships and for girls to be wary of men who might do these things. This is an example of a real animal that was seen frequently in the area that simply had a story made around it. However, there are countless other examples of stories with monsters that have unknown origins and the animal that they are based on, if any is still speculated. One of the most famous examples of this is the connection of mermaids and manatees.…
