Some people might say that the main character from the X-men Wolverine is a superhero, well I disagree with this statement for various reasons. In his book, I Wear the Black Hat: Grappling with Villains, Klosterman states ‘’the villain is the person who knows the most but cares the least’’ (Klosterman 14). He argues that villains know every little detail of what they are about to do but they also care the least about the results and Wolverine is a good example to this statement. …show more content…
Possessing an accelerated healing factor, enhanced senses, and bone claws in his hands that, along with his skeleton, are coated in adamantium, Wolverine is the ultimate weapon.” (Dephinhom, Comic Vine, 4005-1440, np, 9/10/15, 4:42PM) This is who Wolverine really is. The hero and the villain do not differ as much as society seems to believe. Each has their own transgressions that can be argued as “appalling” traits. Like evil Batman’s blood lust or Wayne’s damage psyche. Furthermore, Gal argues that “despite their difference in status, the hero and the villain are dependent on each other and share a notoriety that is often envied” (Gal 201). If there was no villain, there could be no hero.…

In Plato’s The Apology, Socrates did not apologize in the modern use of the word. He was not apologetic at all and instead defended himself. While those around him did not agree with him, he stood his ground, even when this ultimately led to his death. The first figure similar to Socrates that comes to mind is Malcolm X. These men stood for what they believed in although they had so many enemies, the same enemies who eventually killed them.…

In Peter Coogan’s “Superhero: The Secret Origin of a Genre,” he gives a brief definition of a superhero: “A heroic character with a selfless, pro-social mission with superpowers” (Coogan 30). There was more written after this sentence, but this part stuck out to me the most. I must point out that a superhero doesn’t necessarily have to have superpowers because, look at Batman (I’ll go more into detail about his story later). Coogan does agree with my belief about the mission of the superhero.…
