With the rise in chronic illness case management is an essential part of nursing practice. Case management coordinates patient care through assessment planning, assisting, and evaluating to ensure excellent patient outcomes. One of the technologies available for case management is the use of the free mobile warning system from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. A patient care provider can instruct patient with pulmonary problems such as patients with asthma, emphysema, COPD to download the "AirNow” app. The Airflow app can alert the patient when there is poor quality air in their area (Sewell, 2016).
