Chronic Cancer Research Paper

Cancer is a group of diseases which involves defects in the cellular control mechanism. The growth of multicellular organisms occurs due to the reproduction of cells. This happens as the existing cells divide by mitosis to form new cells which is a process that is regulated by some factors in our body. Sometimes, due to reasons such as spontaneous mutations, an irregular and uncontrollable cell growth occurs, forming malignant tumours. Besides, these cells have a characteristic of possessing an abnormal number of chromosomes and have the ability to divide indefinitely at a very fast rate. Additionally, they can potentially invade or spread to other parts of the body and the surrounding tissue, a process called metastases, which results in causing lumps to be formed. …show more content…
Cancer can be divided into various different types and it is named differently depending on its location in the body. The cancer which occurs in muscles, cartilages and connective tissues are known as sarcoma. Additionally, Carcinoma is a type of cancer which appears in cells that line the internal organs and the skin. Also, lymphoma is the cancer of the lymph glands and nodes, and lastly leukaemia is the cancer which occurs in the blood forming organs, mainly the bone marrow. Cancer is a major killer worldwide. In the US, for example, cancers form 25% of deaths.
