1 Chrohn’s Disease Chrohn’s disease is named after Dr. Burrill B. Crohn who discovered it in 1932; 2 he described it as a part of Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD. Chrohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract, affecting the beginning of the colon and or the small bowel, also known as the ileum. It doesn’t just affect the previously stated body organs but as well as digestive tract in general which also include: the stomach, the esophagus, or even the mouth. This disease (Chrohn’s) is also known as regional enteritis or ileitis. Due to the fact that it when you have this disease it attacks healthy GI tract cells it is classified as a autoimmune disease.
